La Siguanaba is one of the most famous legends in our country. I have heard about it since I was a little girl. My grandma told me that when she was a teen it was common to hear about that "strange woman" or the worst was to see her. It was more common for men when they were really late on the street. Men used to see a beautiful woman with long hair and pretty eyes, so if they started to talk to her, she dissapeared. Suddlenly, the woman was really ugly. Also, some people say that they have heard her voice calling to their names or calling to her son: El Cipitio.
The legend says that La Ciguanaba had a son named Cipitio, and she became crazy, so she left the kid with her father-in-law. When encountered, she is a beautiful woman who is either naked or dressed in flimsy white; she usually appears bathing in a public water tank, river, or other water source, although she may also be found washing clothing. She likes to lure lone men out late on dark, moonless nights, without letting them see her face at first. She tempts such men away from their planned routes to lose them in deep canyons.
